This research is concerned with studying the connections between the trends of resource interdependencies, economic integration, urbanisation, population growth, climate change, globalisation, and growing levels of consumption in the region. With a focus on the Mekong River, it aims to identify, across a range of spatial scales, the drivers and impacts of governing the freshwater commons that are producing cascading transboundary environmental disruptions and major challenges for sustainable development. It aims to generate both conceptual insights and empirical analysis to inform decision-making about issues in transboundary environmental governance at the national and regional levels.
CSDS is a partner in the Transboundary Environmental Commons in Southeast Asia (TECSEA) project. This project is led by the Asia Research Institute (ARI) of the National University of Singapore. Further details on the TECSEA project are available at the project website .
